As our SMARTDC student representative, Jennifer is responsible for recruiting and motivating many of our favorite people, including after-school tutors. While at After-School Tutoring, she supports our students as they work on difficult homework assignments and helps them improve their writing.

July Volunteer of the Month: Jamie Langhoff
Jamie Langhoff dedicated over 55 (!!!) hours to volunteering with 826DC this past school year. She is an expert illustrator who brings students’ stories to life during field trips and has even hosted her own workshop, Zine and be Zine, in which she helped students draw their own stories.

Our June Volunteer of the Month, Adam Mistler, was seeking an opportunity for self-improvement when he stumbled across Tivoli’s Astounding Magic Supply. Inspired to volunteer with 826DC by his own dedication to writing, Adam admires the impact staff and volunteers have on students every week.

June Community Partner of the Month
826DC is delighted to acknowledge the Mount Pleasant Poetry Project as our June Community Partner of the month! Oliver Bendorf and Temim Fruchter, two local artists/writers/creative-thinkers, launched this awesome project in April to celebrate National Poetry Month.

May Community Partner of the Month
826DC is thrilled to celebrate Linda Maxwell and her Museum Academy Program (MAP) at the Anacostia Community Museum as valued Community Partners this month! Thanks to their invitation and support, our volunteers recently lead MAP students on two fun-filled writing adventures related to a current exhibition, Twelve Years That Shook and Shaped Washington: 1963-1975.
