Give Time
Volunteer with 826DC
Volunteers help us support 2,500 DC students each year! Volunteers* craft and lead original writing adventures, both in our space and in classrooms across DC. They support publishing projects and book releases, offer edits, provide homework help, bring student stories to life, and even levitate wands and design products in our storefront.
Note: *All 826DC volunteers must be 18 or older and fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Proof of vaccination is required before you can join us at an 826DC program.
HOW TO GET STARTED:
- Fill out the 826DC volunteer application below.
- We’ll email you and invite you to a virtual volunteer orientation.
- Start the DCPS clearance process (don’t worry, we’ll explain this at your orientation).
- Either bring us a paper copy of your proof of vaccination or email it to zachary@826dc.org.
- Get ready to have your mind blown by some student poetry/prose.

Our impact is made possible thanks to generous supporters who believe that great leaps in learning happen with individualized attention, and that strong writing skills and creativity are fundamental to future success. A gift of any amount helps make our creative writing programs free for all students in DC. To maximize your impact, please consider making your contribution a monthly recurring gift.
Join Page Turners - Our Monthly Giving Program
Why not make yours the gift that keeps on giving? Becoming a monthly donor is the easiest and most effective way of supporting what we do. Benefits include a welcome package and an annual statement to assist in tax preparation. Plus, you'll feel great knowing that you're providing a reliable stream of funding, maximizing your impact on 826DC and our free writing programs.
Matching Gifts
You may be able to double or triple the number of students you help. No, it’s not an illusion. Ask your company if they have a matching grant program and let us know when you make your gift.
Shop at Tivoli's
Find all of the magic supplies you need to become a passable illusionist or a nearly impressive mentalist. Visit us on-line OR in person. Yes. We’d especially love that. Tivoli’s Astounding Magic Supply is a critical part of our outreach and all proceeds from the store support 826DC programs.
Your support is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for helping us continue our work!
