On September 24th, 2024, join the 826DC staff, board, and broader community for a night hearing from and honoring the next generation of local writers. All proceeds from the evening will help sustain 826DC’s our free, accessible, and fabulous writing programming for DC students ages 6-18.

Dolen Perkins-Valdez is the New York Times bestselling author of Take My Hand (2022), which was awarded a 2023 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work, Silver Gavel Award from the American Bar Association, Fiction Award from Black Caucus of the American Library Association and was longlisted for the Mark Twain American Voice in Literature Award. Tickets are $100 each. You will also have the option to cover the cost of a complimentary ticket for our partner teachers, volunteers, and student families!
