What’s Happening: Spring/Summer 2025

Flowers

So many events! There’s a lot happening at 826DC this spring and summer, and we’d love to have you involved.

Student Showcase

Saturday, May 31st, 2025, 2 PM to 3:30 PM @ The Dance Institute of Washington

Support young writers from schools across the District—including Brookland Middle School, Eliot-Hine Middle School, and Phelps ACE High School—as they share original stories, poems, memoirs, and more that they wrote with us this school year! You’ll join local families, teachers, and fellow supporters of the arts for a lovely afternoon at The Dance Institute of Washington. There will be a short reception afterward at 826DC, about a block away.

Trivia for Cheaters

Thursday, June 5th @ Ropes and Gray LLP

Our Trivia for Cheaters fundraiser is a great time for trivia champs and novices alike! Come test your knowledge in categories like literature, history, science, and pop culture. Throughout the night, participants donate to score advantages like peeping at another team’s answers, asking an expert, stealing someone from another team, and more.

Book Release Party

Tuesday, June 10th, 5:30 PM to 7 PM, Location TBA

This year’s Young Authors’ Book Project (YABP) cohort is our biggest one ever! We’re working with the entire tenth grade at Phelps ACE High School. The book release party is going to be a blast and the whole community is invited.

We hope you’ll join us!

826DC is a joyful, energetic, creative place for young people to strengthen their writing skills. All year, our students have been doing just that! There are more sunny days ahead with plenty to celebrate, thanks to this community, all of the students who share their stories here, and supporters like you. We hope to see you soon!
