Mark your calendars and get your tickets! We’re throwing our first-ever gala, 826DC’s Storybook Soiree, at the Planet Word Museum on Thursday, May 18th, from 6 PM to 8 PM.
For 13 years, 826DC has supported young people in this community through free writing programs, publishing opportunities, and access to the District’s prominent literary voices. Our students have written beautiful books, dreamed up some truly magnificent characters, shared their lived experiences, and built lifetime relationships both with each other and with the written word.
If that’s not worth celebrating, what is?
We’d love to have you join us at this exciting event to do just that. All proceeds from the evening will help sustain our free, accessible, and fabulous writing programming for young writers here in DC.
Featuring:
- Gourmet food and drinks from Windows Catering
- Private after-hours access to the Planet Word Museum
- A conversation with NYT-bestselling author Kwame Alexander and W. Ralph Eubanks, writer and former director of publishing for the Library of Congress (as well as a beloved member of our board)
Tickets for 826DC’s Storybook Soiree
Tickets are $175 each. You will also have the option to cover the cost of a complimentary ticket for our partner teachers, volunteers, and student families!
Can’t join us? You can still show your support by making a donation of any size here.
P.S. If you’re interested in volunteering at this event (no clearance required) and/or if you have any questions, please get in touch with Emma.
