We’re Hiring for Two Positions!

The 826DC team is growing! We’re delighted to be hiring for not one, but TWO exciting positions: 826DC Education Director and 826DC Public Programs Coordinator.

826DC Education Director
The full-time, salaried, and exempt 826DC Education Director position will lead 826DC’s programming into its next chapter. We’re looking for someone with meaningful experience in classroom education and curriculum development, exceptional writing skills, a genuine spirit of creativity and collaboration, a deep understanding of the DC educational landscape, a track record of effective management and program direction, and a commitment to amplifying the voices of youth in the District through rigorous and imaginative writing education. They will report directly to the Executive Director and manage a team of three talented youth development professionals.

826DC Public Programs Coordinator
The part-time, hourly, and contract 826DC Public Programs Coordinator position will manage and execute “the lowercase,” 826DC’s volunteer and community-focused monthly open mic reading series. They will report to and work closely with the Development and Communications Manager to publicize the lowercase and to keep the series mission-adjacent and in-line with 826DC’s organizational goals.

This position pays $20 per hour, to be paid monthly, and is budgeted at 10-15 hours per month beginning February 2019 and concluding on September 30, 2019. The Public Programs Coordinator will determine their own work schedule and has the option to work remotely or onsite, with the expectation that they will be available for each lowercase event—currently the first Wednesday of each month.
