Help us raise $20,000 by June 30

826DC started small: from our origins as Capitol Letters Writing Center, serving just 137 students in the first year through in-classroom programming, to becoming an official chapter of the 826 network. Since then we have grown exponentially. Our team continues to uplift 826DC’s dynamic and essential mission on behalf of DC students and educators. Now serving more than 3,000 students each year, we’ve made strategic decisions to deepen our impact by increasing the amount of time we spend with each student. We’ve enjoyed high-profile local and national press, won awards from the DC Mayor, and our young writers have benefited from the insight of dozens of professional authors, poets, and journalists. We’re also proud to say that we’ve published 11 books over the years. This year, for the very first time, we’re taking the Young Authors’ Book Project on a DC book tour. Students and volunteers will share excerpts from the book at three different events in the District – from Politics and Prose on The Wharf, to Busboys and Poets, to our monthly literary gathering in Petworth, we’re bringing these critical stories to our widest audience yet. It’s going to be a whirlwind of excitement for these young writers, and we hope you’ll join in the celebration of this beautiful and timely publication of poetry.

Your partnership has made all of this possible. We hope that you will stick with us as we continue to craft lively, meaningful, and impactful programming on behalf of DC youth.

This spring, our goal is to raise $20,000 which will support our spring and summer programs – all of which are 100% free to the families who enroll their young writers. Will you help us get there by June 30th?

Join us! By supporting our mission, you send a message to our authors their stories are important and worthy of hearing. And they are.

Update: Thanks to your generosity, we are less than halfway away from reaching our goal of $20,000. Donate today to help us reach our goal!
