Meet your New Year’s Resolutions with 826DC

You have resolutions and we have solutions! 826DC-related ones, that is.

If one of your resolutions is to…

Get more active

Come visit us at our magic storefront, Tivoli’s Astounding Magic Supply Company, on Park Road—next to Giant and across the street from Sticky Fingers—in Columbia Heights!

You’ll discover all sorts of fun magic supplies, books, and novelty gifts. The best part? You’ll be able to take a peek at the 826DC writing center through the secret door in the wall…

Meet new people

Join us at the lowercase, our monthly writing open mic! We meet in Petworth Citizen‘s Reading Room at 7 PM on the first Wednesday of each month.

It’s a warm, low-key event where local writers meet, mingle, and read writing of all kinds—fiction, nonfiction, poetry, you name it!

If you would like to share at the next lowercase, get in touch with Anja to save your spot in the lineup.

Reconnect with friends

Get one or two pals together to play in Paddlestar Galactica, 826DC’s ping-pong tournament! Ping-pong skills not required.

You can learn more (and let us know if you’re interested) here!

Have questions? Just ask.

Give back to the community

You can support 826DC (and all of the young people and teachers we serve) by donating, by volunteering, or both!

Donations of all sizes truly make this work possible. Bonus points if you set up a monthly gift—it’s the most effective and impactful way to help keep us going.

Want to volunteer, but don’t have time yet? You can support us from wherever you are by becoming an 826DC Ambassador.

Intern somewhere amazing

We’ve got you covered. 826DC hires several interns every semester! Sign up for our newsletter or follow us on your favorite social media platform to make sure you hear about upcoming intern opportunities.

Consider buying a book by 826DC students! You won’t just get an incredible piece of writing; your purchase will help fund more free writing adventures and publishing opportunities for more DC students ages 6-18.

No matter how you make 826DC part of your year, we hope that your 2020 is absolutely magical.
