Walking Gemstones and Other Invisible Science
Join 826DC this summer for two weeks of writing, learning, and scientific exploration! For two weeks, student writers will explore the ways that nature is a part of our daily lives — sometimes in ways that are invisible! Learn about beetles that look like gemstones, farms that harvest wind, and the science behind the changing colors of cherry blossom trees. Students will emerge with a publication that features their investigative writing.
Students will be provided breakfast and a snack every day. The intensive will include local field trips to the Smithsonian Natural History Museum, National Gallery of Art, and Zoo, among other exciting places. Students will be chaperoned by trained 826DC staff and volunteer mentors.
July 16th – 27th | 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM | Grades 3 – 6
