October lowercase feat. Tara Campbell

October 4, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

It’s the October edition of the lowercase! Join us at our monthly reading series for volunteers and friends of 826DC.

This month’s reading will feature local writer and 826DC volunteer, Tara Campbell, and we’ll be getting * *extraterrestrial* * just in time for Halloween. Bring a piece inspired by alien life forms!

With a BA in English and an MA in German, Tara Campbell has a demonstrated aversion to money and power. Originally from Anchorage, Alaska, she also lived in Oregon, Ohio, New York, Germany and Austria, before landing in DC.
In 2016, the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities awarded her the 33rd Annual Larry Neal Writers’ Award in Adult Fiction, and the 31st Annual Mayor’s Arts Award for Outstanding New Artist. She is also a 2017 Kimbilio Fellow.

Tara is an MFA candidate at American University and an assistant fiction editor at Barrelhouse. She teaches writing at American University, The Writer’s Center, and starting in spring 2018, the National Gallery of Art.

Interested in sharing your work at the lowercase? We’d love that! Email lowercase@826dc.org to let us know.
