Let’s Explore! Writing About Nature
“Let’s Explore! Writing about Nature” is a ninety minute workshop designed to expose young scholars to films and creative tools, ultimately to help students better observe, record, and write about the natural world buzzing all around us. Students will learn how to observe nature, use a field notebook to record observations, review notes and ideas, and produce an original poem about nature; be trained in how to cultivate creative ideas and unique words to describe what they observe in nature; learn language skills and literary devices such as the simile and metaphor to describe observations; and learn how to weave personal experiences into writing about the natural world.
This workshop is intended for ages 9-13
Taught by Karen Mitchell
